To Filet Crochet or Not Filet Crochet. That is the Question.

I must admit, I have a strong love- hate relationship with filet crochet. Filet crochet is a mesh fabric made up of double crochets and chains. By nature it is very “blocky”. Often for a filet pattern there are written instructions and and usually is accompanied by a graph. The way the picture develops is nothing less than magical… and addictive. Filet and post stitches can transform yarn into an intricate art. Its like an Etch A Sketch and a jigsaw puzzle had a baby. But be warned, you miss one stitch and boy are you in trouble. It can kind of be a slow process, but when you get to emerging image, you just want to do more. Even with each repetitive row, you still need to have the instructions close by just in case you get stuck. A Lot of times it is best to use a solid color or a gradual color change just so you can see the beauty of every stitch. And do you ever want to see these pictures emerge!
